Life, friendships, and relationships with our partner are more important than money.

Do You Get Upset Over Money?

Today money is a necessity in life, but it I doesn’t have to be a source of disagreements and arguments.

We have to have money to survive in daily life, but we want to have a balanced view or money and keep it in it’s proper place. Money itself isn’t bad, we just don’t want to grow to have an unbalanced view of it.

Can Money be a Protection?

Money can be used for a “protection” in many ways.  We use money to pay bills, such as rent or mortgage, buy groceries, pay for car repairs, save for unforeseen expenses and so on.  We need money in our daily lives.

We also can use money for things we enjoy, such as family vacations, outings with friends, little extras like gifts for a friend or family member.  In these ways we can use money as a protection.

We want to keep money in it’s proper place though and remember that our relationships with others is far more important than any amount of money.  Money can’t buy happiness, health, or peace of mind.  Money has limits.  We want to have strong relationships and practical wisdom, that is what we will truly need when faced with challenges.  It is beneficial to work on our mindset around our view of money in order to keep it in it’s proper place.

How to Keep Money in it’s Proper Place?

We don’t want to argue with our partner about money.  We need to have discussions about how we spend our money, but we don’t want it to be a means of arguments.  When we don’t communicate and discuss our money with our partner, overtime this will lead to disagreements and arguments.

In a relationship with our marriage mate, partner or if we are single, having a practical and balanced view of money will help us.  This involves having a practical budget.   Listing out the priorities and coming to an agreement with how to spend the money for the household.

It is important to have periodic discussions and reviews of the money coming in and going out. This is important with the change income and or rise in cost of goods and services we are paying for.

Learn to Listen and Trust

Whether are managing our own money or in a relationship where two people are involved, it is important to listen to each other and even be aware of what is going on for ourselves when it comes to money, our thoughts and how we act with our money.  We can learn to trust ourselves and our partner when it comes to money, how we view it, spend it and even discuss it.  When we learn to trust our partner, we avoid being prideful and avoid the dangers of arguing about money.

Does having a lot of money free us from worry in life?

No!  If you worry about clothing if you were poor, you would worry about your jet if you were rich.  Having a lot of money just amplifies who you are. You will worry regardless, if you are a worrier.

What is a misconception about money?

Some believe that the more they have happier they will be and they will have less stress, anxiety and even worry.  This though isn’t the case.  When we have more, we have more to lose.  Regardless of the amount of money we have our life span is still limited.

Does wealth change people?

It can.  Having a lot of money can be compared to a drug, we have it and then we want more and more.  It can make someone feel powerful and get into the mindset that things will be bliss if they have more and more money.  Regardless of the amount of money, we still have limits as humans.

Sometimes We Can’t Have It All

Unfortunately, in life we can’t always have everything we want.  We can learn to be thankful and appreciative of what we do have.

We don’t want to have an unbalanced longing or view of things we don’t have, things that are out of our financial reach.  It is important to not go into unneeded debt by having multiple credit cards and overusing them.  This will not help you to save money and will ultimately add more stress and anxiety to your life.

If we have an improper view of money and put an unbalanced importance on it, we become a slave to it and it can cause many sorrows.  If we keep it in its proper place and view it as a protection, and stay in control of it instead of it controlling you, you will experience greater contentment and happiness!
